A little bit about my background. I started out as a graduate intern worked up to recruiter after 3 years. Left that company during Covid. Went to another where I started out in a hybrid recruiting/DEI manger role. I really wanted to make a difference for underrepresented talent.
Now I’m a Sr. Manager of DEI and things were good for the first 2.5 years and now I think I hate it. I feel like I spin my wheels making programs and partnership connections that don’t actually go anywhere. Recruiters I now support/advise say they can’t find talent of color even when I send talent recos, hiring managers are to blame etc. etc. I make good money (but recently found out I’m still paid less than a recruiter with no graduate degree). I’ve thought about employee relations but don’t know how I’d make that leap.
It might just be HR/DEI as a whole. I think I might like something more cut and dry because having to constantly produce ideas to solve a problem that feels like it’ll never go away is draining me.
Thanks if you’ve made it this far through my ramble. What types of roles might align with my background? Would love any advice or perspective.
