I go through stages where I try to be very organized about my time, I use a detailed calendar and todo lists to plan ahead according to my values/priorities. I feel very optimistic about it. And it might work for a little while. But inevitably, there's a point where my energy levels get mismatched with my desired plans. Maybe a social event ends up draining me more than I anticipated, wrecking my sleep schedule and energy, and I suddenly require 3 full days to recover, which completely dismantles my plans. I start cancelling things, and suddenly my calendar/todo list is completely meaningless. I let the routines and obligations pass by because I'm in recharge mode, and I have no idea how long it will take to feel normal again. Then I feel guilty that I have a bunch of overdue tasks and FOMO about the social events I missed.
Have you all experienced this? How do you plan your life, especially events involving others, when your energy is so unpredictable? Lately, I'm starting to think making no sure plans and just seeing how I feel on the day of is the best method, but this makes me come across as flaky to others.
