It's all well and good to sit from the sidelines to critique something that you know no details about.
Real-life investigations aren't exactly like they are in tv, but they have a huge amount of moving parts, including lawyers, to make sure the case isn't lost.
That's a good question.
While I can only speak of previous instances, there are times when, depending on the ease of logistics, they either stay at a certain location or are shuttled to one location or another.
The authorities have either chosen not to elaborate on certain aspects or the reporters didn't hear the information or hadn't deemed it important enough to get take down the notes.
I suspect this was an offshoot of another investigation, but I kinda agree.
