Denizens of Meyerland — how has flash flooding changed in the neighborhood since Harvey?
Post Body

We have been in this neighborhood for two years now and love nearly every inch of it, but obviously growing up in Houston know of its flood history since the late 90s and bought our house knowing the risks.

We know that Brays and it’s bridges have been overhauled, and street drainage has been improved all over, and 40% of the houses have been raised, etc., but I’m curious to hear from people who went through Tax Day/Memorial Day/Harvey floods as to how the handling of flash floods has improved since then.

Yesterday we got 1.8 inches of rain in a half hour or so, and didn’t see street flooding at all. That would have 100% street flooded at our old house in Pearland, which was safe during Harvey, so I’m starting to feel like whatever they did may have worked alright.
