Yeah I buy these in a 6 pack on Amazon for like $20. I don’t think it has anything to do with the moss pole being damp and everything to do with having support. Whether it’s a pole or a trellis, they just need something to climb up and it will shoot out the big leaves. This one grew aerial roots right into the moss pole and I had to cut the pole out around them when I repotted it.

I’ve never wetted a moss pole. I know it’s popular I’ve just never done it. I did nothing special except set it head on in front of a south facing window and gave it some support on top of it supporting itself. It shot an aerial root that was touching the ground and holding it up.
