Can I please have some recommendations for houseplants in this area.

The first picture is where I would like to put plants, just below the picture frame. And there's a south east facing window near it(2nd pic)!
I do have cats that sometimes climb that area, and I don't really trust them not to be curious about the area..
Please recommend me some low light(??) plants!
