Do I have to propagate a monstera cutting with existing foot-long aerial roots?

Post Body

I decided to chop my 3-year-old monstera deliciosa, which has pretty big aerial roots. One of the cuttings has two aerial roots that are more than a foot long each. I plan on letting the cuttings sit for a day to callus off at the cutting point before doing anything else. After they're callused over, do I still need to propagate in water or another medium to get new roots, or can I plant it directly into soil with the existing aerial roots? Both cuttings are healthy with stems about 1 inch in diameter.
