I lost a third of my plants today and I'm devastated. Hope can I prevent this from happening again?

Post Body

After being gone for two weeks to go to Texas for a second opinion on my cave, coming home to no power, and then shortly after I finally get power I had to go into the ER where they admitted me for a little over a week. I knew when I came home my plants would be in a rough state and I knew I would lose some but I lost so many and some are probably going to die soon.

I don't know anyone in this state so I can't ask for watering help. Is there anything I could do if I find myself in this situation again to keep them watered? I'm about to go into chemo and I suspect I'll find myself in this same situation again soon.
