Post Body

Hello,

So I was a customers house and they asked me if I wanted a Watkins Prodigy H Hot Springs tub. They bought the house and the bank supposedly drained and winterized it. There was a sticker that said it was drained.

It's a 2005 model, and it's insulated. It's in amazing shape for it's age.

It was empty. It was stored indoors, and as such the lady can't get her CO because of it's location. As a result I got it for literally free.

Well it's sitting on my back deck and it's currently wired with a plug in 110v mode. It is convertible to 240, and I plan to run a sub panel and such out to the back deck to run the hot tub, and a few GFCI outlets for extra use.

I'm wondering before I drop the money for a sub panel and 100 feet of 6/3 wire, how I can test to make sure this works. I spoke to a few people about it and two said to plug it in and run it for about 30 seconds to see if the motor spins and the element comes on. They said you'll feel the heat from the element. Totally time the tub should be on is about 2 minutes total.

I'm not sure about this, but I wanted see what I could do to make sure. As you all know 6/3 wire isn't cheap these days, and neither are sub panels.

Any advice is good here. I'm very mechanically inclined. I did call the local hot springs dealer and havev an account set up so that can do the converting for the hot tub, I told them I will wire it in.
