I have struggled alot with my dual sticks and T.A.R.G.E.T software for a while now . i actually love this software because its immensely powerful. however to get to this point i had to get trough some kinks and issues.
Problem installing filterdrivers
One of the common issues with target is that it fails to install a filter driver when running a script.
Solutions: Run T.A.R.G.E.T as admin (this is most of the time a permission issue) if it still doesnt work clear the HIDs from the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses\ Search for the same HID you see in target log. and delete that key from the registry. run target as admin again and load your script. it should be able to install the filter drivers.
T.A.R.G.E.T Fails to hide the physical controllers from windows.
When target creates a combined device, it is supposed to hide the standard physical ones. if it fails to do this you end up with double inputs at the same time, this can be very problematic when binding your keys and even playing games.
This is very easy to spot, if target takes a long while to compile the script and to the HID procedures, something is conflicting and the devices will not be hidden even if the combined device works.
To verify this just open joy.cpl from run or controlpanel/devices and printers.
To solve this i had to research this quite a bit. i tried all of the common fixes which were
- Uninstall/reinstall drivers & Target
- deleting registry keys
- Trying different ports
- Rearrange the USB priority order by unplugging my other devices to make sure my T16000M's were on top.
All of those failed for me. but i found a solution in my case it was a conflicting RGBLed driver.
I have RGBFusion on my Gigabyte motherboard. and it was by killing this application i got the script editor to work again.
All this hassle for a confliciting chipset feature driver/software.
T.A.R.G.E.T Combines only one of your inputs.
If your combined device gets created and you lack half of the input ints probably because of windows losing one of the deivce prior to the combining.
Solution: Shuffle your USB device connectors until both pop up in joy.cpl
On top of this i must say that other than all the issues with T.A.R.G.E.T i love this software.
