I just finished Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith, and loved it so much. This might probably just be owing to Engish being a second language for me and I've read so few books, so Tom's writing in reality might be just simple to most people, but for me, it felt so desolate. Detached, coldly mirroring the Russia under Stalin's rule which is the backdrop of the story and is portrayed amazingly, imo.
Is there any horror book written in that style or vibe? Would be even cooler if it's a period piece like Child 44. :)
