I realized tonight that I like psychological horror. One example: a character who thinks they may be losing their mind always gets to me. But I feel like a lot of these films have downer endings (Lights Out, Rosemary’s Baby, etc). I’d like to find some scary movies with endings like Scream 3 (which isn’t psychological horror itself). (Minor spoiler) Sydney sees the door fly open, which used to be her cue to go into fight-or-flight because Ghostface was in the house. Instead, she smiles, showing that she has regained a sense of security as well as peace. Are there any movies where a character conquers their demons, overcomes their addiction, or faces their past and/or their fears and triumphs?
