Been on a survival horror kick and noticed a few things…

Post Body

In survival movies where hikers/campers are being chased by hunters/killers you are almost guaranteed to see:

  1. A main character has to wear red or orange and becomes an easy target.

  2. If there is one bad guy, their motive is either just for sport or is some type revenge for loss of a loved one.

  3. If there are multiple bad guys, the motivation is money or to cover up a crime they committed.

  4. If there are two bad guys, one is large and impulsive, the other is small and calculating.

  5. Main characters must argue and waste time when they could be running away from the bad guys.

  6. All but one main character is killed and final one still alive must suddenly become Rambo… or at the very least Ash Williams.

There are of course more tropes but these are in like every one I’ve watched recently. Some of these float over to ‘cabin in the woods’ as well.

What else do you always notice in these?
