Dan O'Bannon was a talented writer and Ridley Scott is a visionary, there's no doubt about that, but Giger's erotic nightmares were the hypnotizing glue that made Alien what it was and continues to be today. I just can't imagine anyone else molding the creation of such intriguing and disturbing frights as the Space Jockey, facehugger, chestburster, and titular monstrosity with his intricate level of horrific mystery. Off the top of my head, I don't know of any other Swiss artists that match him as far as the genre is concerned (but if you know any, please feel free to share). I just wanted to make a post to virtually tip my hat to the man. What a gifted beast of a creator.
