Ferox: The Second Printing. A horror game.
Post Body

Greetings from /r/boardgames. One of my favourite crossover subjects is horror board games, and one happens to be seeking funding now on Indiegogo.

Ferox is an asymmetrical 2-player card battling game inspired by the cannibal exploitation films of the 1970's and 80's. One player controls a film crew that has crashed in a hostile jungle and must escape, the other plays the native tribes intent on destroying any trace of the invaders. Through careful card drafting, hand management, and the manipulation of a shared resource pool, players must outwit each other and achieve their goals at all costs.

Ferox details on BoardGameGeek. Some cool gory pictures of the game's art, and box art.

In case you're wondering if it's any good, it's a proven design which has been printed before and sold out. Here and here we have two very fair reviews outlining why the game works so well, to wit:

The final element you're managing is the single most genius mechanic in the game: Rage. This is a pool of points each player possesses which is used to satisfy the costs of playing a card. If you don't have enough Rage then you can't trigger the effect, suck it cameraman who looks like Steve Buscemi.

What's undeniably clever is the fact that Rage spent goes to your opponent. This means the control of tempo and power shifts back and forth in a battle of cadence. When you push those cubes to the other side of the table and wrap some meager bandages on Script Girl's stump of an arm, that pit deep within your abdomen fills with dread. You just gave those sadistic fiends the power to launch a massive assault.

There are very few real horror board games out there. There are plenty that have a horror theme, but Ferox joins the likes of The Bloody Inn and Psycho Raiders as one of the chosen few.
