Jesus Christ.

I had a feeling from the description about how that was going to end; but it was so much worse than I expected. This is one of few films that I will NEVER watch again and the only one that I have deleted from my collection. The acting and dialogue from the kids was pretty cringey and felt sexualised at times; the focus on their cleavage made me uncomfortable.

The photos scene was fucking horrible and the only way that I can describe how that made me feel; is that I felt my heart fall inside my chest. The barrel scene was horrifying and actually caught me off guard.

The rape scene was really unnecessary and the final 22 minutes of footage felt like it was never going to end and I almost turned it off.

I've seen some dark films, but this pushed me to my fucking limit.
Never again.

Ward Weaver III, the abduction and killing of two little girls in Oregon. He gives a TV interview during the search for the girls in which he is standing on top of a concrete slab he's freshly poured over top of one of the girls' remains. Really very awful stuff. As the previous commenter also mentioned, one of the younger sisters of the victims visited him in prison to find some kind of answers or closure and he confessed that she had been his next target. Not sure how you'd ever come back from hearing something like that. It's a particularly frustrating case because it's noted that multiple times in his life he was permitted to slide on a lot of violence - attempted rapes, DV, a lot of the usual suspects. This is one of those cases where I personally think incompetent law enforcement shares a good chunk of the blame.

Yeah not the most pleasant reading eh?? Sorry for what I've just done to your day LOL

I don't want to wade into the argument about the creative merit in this kind of explicit "shock art". All I'll say is that whatever well-intentioned "raising awareness of predators" message the director claims was his main motivation, it's thoroughly lost and subsumed in the exploitative and frankly pornographic method of delivery. Not one I'm particularly keen to rewatch.
