More of a thriller, though in my opinion, it's quite a scary film since I have a fear of heights. I saw this once in theaters which was honestly the best place to watch it since I wanted a good, tense experience. I remember finding it pretty decent across the board, and it seems to have a good critical reception. But I find online that audiences seem to have more of a disdain for it, and it's overall really divisive amongst them. I do wonder why this is because to me, it's just a well-made and simple standalone thriller that gives exactly what its advertised to be. I see some criticism hailed at the ending where the protagonist learns (SPOILER) her friend has been dead for quite a while and was hallucinating her for the last third or so of the runtime. BUT, my friend who I saw the movie with was actually really impacted by that reveal and told me that's a real thing that actually can happen if you're under great stress and have a deceased loved one, since she experienced that first hand. So that tells me that that reveal was actually something realistic and more impactful for the story, not just a dumb bait and switch.
What do you all think though?
Itβs one of few films that have managed to actually get a physical reaction from me. I was tense throughout and whilst it had its shortcomings I thought it was very enjoyable!
