Lake Mungo is terrible

I honestly don’t get why it’s scary at all. I liked the first 15 minutes because it got weirder but it just kept on throwing twist after twist that it became boring really fast. The ending is silly.
Am I missing something?
Edit: it does seem like I am missing something. The trauma aspect doesn’t seem to affect me and that apparently is the driving force behind the fear of the movie. Asking this actually helped me understand the movie more.
