This first occurred to me as I obsessively looted every corpse and box in a camp full of dead people for 5 minutes while the NPCs waited patiently for me to talk to them. Then again as I sprinted full speed through crowded city streets, vaulting over tables and pushing people out of the way, just to reach a trader a bit faster. Outside of the cut scenes, Aloy (at least as I play her) is antisocial, rude, neurotically compelled to constantly collect trinkets, has no concept of personal property and regularly takes whatever she wants from others' camps, is unable to stand still for even a few seconds, is constantly showing off her gymnastic athleticism at inappropriate times and places, and finally is a mass murderer who has killed literally hundreds, maybe thousands of people without a second thought. In most games we suspend disbelief and write it off as ludonarrative dissonance, but here I can actually imagine that someone raised as an outcast in the wild with only one companion would turn into such a weirdo murderous hoarder. If only the cut scenes had the guts to follow through with this idea.
