Wanted to share one of the ideas I have for a combat machine I’m developing for my future Horizon DnD campaign. It’s going to be a mission based monster hunting game set in Meridia’s Hunters Lodge. So I’m trying to come up with some good new machines for my players to hunt and I have this idea for a Therizinosaurus Machine that I’d like some feedback on.
I’m calling it the Rakewrist, inspired by the Zino’s rake like claws and a reference to the Daggerwrist from Wayne Douglas Barlowe’s work, and it’s a combination of a Clawstrider, Longleg, and Skydrifter without any flying. It’s body is the shape of a Therizinosaurus and covered in the razor-like feathers. It uses it’s extending 3 clawed hands to slash at enemies, it’s razor beak to peck downwards and it’s folding fan tail like a peacock to sweep up opponents. It can also launch its razor quills on its body for range and I’m thinking of giving it some kind of booster ability so it can use blinding speed to “samurai slash” people up to. Wondering if I should give it a deafening shriek or some kind of “terrifying presence” ability. Something that can halt players to leave them open to its attacks.
The key gimmicks of this machine is “speed” and “slashy slash”. Even at range this thing will cut you and the environment up. Not sure what components to give to have my players “disarm” it besides making it’s Claws and Tail detachable to disable it’s big slashes and it’s tail sweep attack. No idea what elemental weakness to give it either so any help on this part would be appreciated!
Also look up the yugioh card Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon and imagine it with the Horizn paint job and 3 sling claws for hands and that’s what I imagine it to look like.
