Dear Shadow people, I have a 1999 1100cc vt c2 shadow aero that I've loved and babied for more than 5 years. I never got rough with it or modified or done work to the engine or the rest of the bike itself. Nothing aside from regular maintenance cleaning and snugging up some bolts and screws here and there, (if you own a Honda motorcycle then you know how much they can vibrate lol.)
About 6 months ago I had parked it and it ran like a top before it sat unused for nearly the entirety of that 6 months due to a seized front wheel bearing and a busted front break piston. I didn't have very much time to myself because I have young kids at home and so I couldn't invest the time that I wanted and I do not have the money to pay to get it fixed, so the bike sat on jack stands covered up and without a front wheel for about 4 months out of the 6 that it sat grounded.
Last month I was finally able to get the breaks and the bearing issue resolved through working on it for about 30-45 minutes every other day. I was glad to have that taken care of and now I knew I needed to clean out the fuel lines, tank, fuel and air filter and make sure the fuel pump still worked along with the battery too so after checking all of that, the fuel system seems to be in good working order. The next step for me is to clean the carbs, check\change the spark plugs, oil, fuses break-lines and check on the coolant and radiator.
After I checked all of the basic systems as mentioned before as well as the wiring harness and bulbs; I found no fault or sign of much aging or any corrosion anywhere aside from the outer components being a bit dirty so I assumed it was safe to try and start the bike up and test it out, but as I expected the bike didn't start up immediately so I kept trying and trying but to my dismay it just wouldn't start up, only turn over so I rechecked absolutely everything again and this time I really made sure to be thorough.
Of course having to go through it again and with a fine-toothed comb this time took about 2 months for me get finished so with anticipation I tried to fire it up once more.
The bike started up after a few turn-overs but it didn't sound like the other cylinder was firing properly so I held open the throttle to maybe try and help get the gas to that cylinder but the bike shut off before that could happen. So now I'm at a loss for what else I could do for this bike. Would anybody who's had the same issue as I am having please tell me how dumb I am and what I'm missing? Anything helpful will be greatly appreciated and used to the best of my power, thanks.
