When checking the oil on an 1986 VT700 I know not to thread the dipstick in but are we checking the oil level when the bike is upright or on the side stand? I noticed the oil level was low and the red oil indicator came on briefly. Bike ran smooth otherwise. Topped it off with some 10w-40 conventional wet clutch 4 stroke atv oil. Will get the correct Honda oil when I do a full oil change and filter replacement. Just topped off the oil for idling the bike as I do some repairs. Not riding it currently. Also I noticed my turn signal indicators were not working until the bike idled for about a minute. The amber lights came on at the front but would not blink and nothing to the rear lights. After a minute they worked flawlessly. Could this be a battery issue? Not enough juice? Thanks for the input.
Upright on center stand. Always. Any bike. And level ground
