Slush on front emblem sensor

I had an issue driving yesterday where slush had built up just enough to block the front emblem sensor and my dashboard lit up light a Christmas tree with warnings.
Is it possible to use something like Rain-X on the emblem so build up will slide off? Or will doing so somehow damage the sensor cover?
