Side/rear 'Atmos enabled' speaker modules worth it?

Hi.

I've got a 5.1.2 setup, with the height speakers being front, on the wall (actually on really high shelves, angled downward). I can't install in ceiling speakers, and my tv area is actually a multipurpose room, with a console table behind the sofa holding the surruonds, and dining tables and the like behind that (so the only area 'I'm allowed' to put speakers is in front of the sofa and the table immediately behind the sofa).

The rear surround speakers are basically 1 metre to the left/right of the MLP (and a bit behind). Was considering putting dolby atmos modules on them. I realise bouncing sound off the ceilings doesn't give a strong height effect, but would these be too close to the MLP have any height effect at all (and in fact mess with the surround effect on top of that)? Is there anything I could do to help with that?
