Question about the Yamaha RX-V6A/TSR-700

This unit is advertised as hdmi 2.1 capable (8K@60hz/4K@120hz), but I’ve heard that this is only achievable via firmware updates on units manufactured before a certain date (around July 2021 I’ve heard). I’d like to buy one of these certified refurbished on eBay, but I have some questions.

If I get it and it was made before that date, how would I go about getting these firmware updates?

If I get a mode that was made after that date, do I simply have nothing to worry about and can enjoy its full capabilities right out of the box?

Sorry if these are dumb questions. Thank you for any help!
