So I’ve decided to upgrade from a soundbar to a 5.1.2 setup and I need some advice. What’s the best speaker location/setup for my room? In particular the 2 atmos speakers.

Right now im planning to get 2 bookshelfs for the L & R to go on each side of the TV, center just below the tv, and 2 side surrounds where my current surrounds are.

As you can see the roof of this room is pretty low, I know ceiling mounted is best, but would some upfiring addons placed on the 2 surrounds at the side be good enough? Or placed on top of the bookshelf speakers on the front L & R? I’m coming from an n950 soundbar (upfiring) which actually has a pretty decent atmos affect in this room. (I know we all hate soundbars here, but it actually encouraged me to upgrade to a real home theater setup since it sounded so good.)

If not, what are my other options? Should I ceiling mount them? Or should I get a speaker mount for some bookshelf speakers on the back wall and angle them down? I can also remove the cupboards behind the TV and place them on a high shelf for front height channels.

If you have any advice/options for me based upon my setup, let me know. I’m looking to make this as easy as possible. Also just some general setup advice.
