Hello,
I recently bought a ELAC 3030 Debut 12" subwoofer (https://www.elac.com/product/debut-2-0-sub3030/) for my home theater system, which consists of two JBL 220 Studio speakers and a JBL 225C center speaker. Everything is hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V675 AVR. The sub is connected directly with a RCA/Cinch-cable to the sub output of the AVR.
This is my first subwoofer ever and I was expecting it to blast me away from my sofa while watching movies. However, this is not the case. After running YPAO and the Elac Auto-EQ App on my mobile phone, I noticed that the sub is noticeable, so it does something, but that there is no much difference 3.1 vs 3.0.
I need some help to figure out, what I can expect from a subwoofer in general.
A few questions:
1) YPAO suggested that the sub level should be -10 db. Is this normal? Also, it suggested YPAO Flat as EQ curve. I didn't like that, so I've changed it to "Through". I thought that YPAO should assist the adjusting process, not make things worse.
2) I have the feeling that the sub doesn't do much. I've tested this with bass-heavy music and movie trailers and it does not blow me away. I cannot "feel" earthquakes, the sound is just a little bit deeper. Could positioning create such a problem? I've placed the sub in the left corner room. The room has a "normal" rectangle shape ( 6 m x 4 m). I haven't tried to move it around yet, because I want to some oppinions on what I should expect from a subwoofer.
All in all, it is pretty annoying to get a heavy, expensive speaker, carry it around the room, and not to achieve "drastic" quality improvements :(.
