Newbie question about Pioneer AVR

Post Body

Hey everyone,

I just got a used AVR and speakers for a good deal, but I'm having trouble with the setup. I have quite a bit of experience when it comes to studio setups, however I have absolutely 0 experience when it comes to home theatre, forgive me if my question is very stupid. I connected everything and the speakers work fine via optical cable from my tv, however i can't seem to get anything else working. I connected the HDMI out of the AVR to the HDMI on my tv that supports eARC/ARC. I reset the AVR to factory defaults using a yt video. So far so good. However none of the menu buttons seem to do anything, neither on the TV nor on the receiver itself. (Receiver is a Pioneer VSX-527-K) According to the manual an OSD should pop up when I press the home button, but nothing happens. I connected my XBOX to the receiver, bc i thought maybe it needed a video signal for the OSD to work, but that didnt help either. The volume buttons, input select and surround sound modes work fine via the remote. The ch select Vol and Vol- for the channels also do nothing. Is this receiver just broken? I can't really complain since i basically got it for free, would still be a bummer though. Maybe someone has had a similar experience to this and can help me out, any input would be much appreciated
