My friends and I are trying to buy my childhood home. The property is about 4 acres, and at least half is undeveloped land in Eastern Oregon. We want to raise chickens and goats and grow our own vegetables and fruit. Sounds easy in theory, but we're all newcomers to doing this. There's all sorts of things we need to know:
How much room is needed for goats to exercise?
How much do goats/chickens eat?
Which is more profitable? Wool or milk?
How many goats and chickens can be supported in a 2-acre span?
We also plan to set up greenhouses and do vertical farming. Growing lettuce and spinach and things in food walls instead of raised beds. It would allow us to grow more vegetables in a smaller area. An orchard, too.
Where could we sell our produce/fruit, eggs, wool/milk, and do we need any special certificates or qualifications?
