Should I buy in a good school district with no kids yet?
Post Body

Hear me out because I’m needing some advice.

I was supposed to get married next month but he called it off. I love my first home but it’s got a lot of hard memories, the property taxes have gone up $600 a month in 6 years, and, since he left his animals, both of the dogs need a yard. I bought the home 6 years ago at $160k (3% down) will have $140k left on the mortgage when I sell. The current home value is $280k (I get cash offers for $230k so could easily sell for that). My income has also doubled so I was looking to buy a home for $360k max and it would keep me at the same monthly payments with 20% down this time around.

I eventually want a family but I’m now starting over. I am looking at home with 10,000 sq ft properties (mine is 1900) and the homes are 1750-2200 (mine is 1400). I could buy more home in an okay school district or less home in a great school district. I picked my current location due to being eligible for a down payment program to live in this area and it paid off. I won’t be eligible for a second one so this is all me this time.

My city is growing exponentially so I will be guaranteed profits regardless. I’m just trying to see if one is better over the other.

We moved to a good school district before we had a kid. House is worth more and easier to sell.
