Not allowed to fix your own property anymore
Post Body

My home insurance company required an inspection before they would renew my insurance. Understandable of course. They came out and found no issues except my "fence was in poor condition". A branch from an oak tree at the back of my 1/2 acre property had fallen onto it and broke a section of the pickets and two of the runners. I bought new pickets and some lumber and fixed the fence myself. I sent photos to my insurance company showing that the fence was fixed. I didn't hear anything from them for a month so I asked for a follow up. They said my insurance will not renew until I show receipts from the company that fixed my fence. I said I fixed my own fence and then they said they will not renew my insurance unless an actual fence company does the work. I'm convinced they just don't want to insure me anymore but are being extremely nitpicky about it. I asked if we could do a new inspection and if it passed if they would be satisfied and proceed with a renewal. Still awaiting a response. I'm in Florida (nowhere near the coast though) and house and car insurance had been a nightmare.

Nah, retaining walls aren’t even covered. You can get a policy for anything if you pay but it’s not standard.

They just don’t want to insure you. A fence isn’t going to be covered anyway. It’s irrelevant.
