I live in west Texas and lighting here is much angrier than the rest of the country. The last 4 years I’ve been here lightning have struck houses in my neighborhood less than a mile radius at least twice every year and one thing it burnt half my electronics including the networking equipment I had (luckily I wasn’t in as deep in the hobby as I am now) so now every time it’s going to storm I have to unplug everything and if I’m leaving the house for an extended period I unplug every thing and swap it with a cheap slink router I have to get homeassistant (in a old chrome box) and the camera running.
So far I have every thing including the fridge hooked up to a surge protector and have install a whole home surge protector in the fuse box. And make surer the house,s ground is properly sunk o to the earth.
