How do you lock down your backups?

Hello fellow home labbers, I was wondering about my backups and I wanted to ask how others lock down their backups?
At the minute I've got an my virtual hard drives on an ISCI share with veeam backing up to a CIFS share which everyone has read/write access which I know isn't secure if I was to get hit by a crypto locker.
