r710 Won't spin-up non-WD drives
Post Body

recently got a r710 8 x 2.5" , purchased a H200 and flashed it to IT mode and went to play with my new(used) server and can't get 5 of my drives to spin up. I reset and re-flashed the H200 in case I did something wrong, nogo. Re-seated the cables, then I started moving the drives around and noticed that 3 of the 8 drives I'm using are WD and those are the only ones that are spinning up. I pulled the SAS cables from the backplane an same thing, these 3 drives light up no matter what slot I put them in but none of the other 5 drives will spin up.

Is there something about r710's that I don't know about? I've built my own 24 drive NAS with a Norco, built a ESXi white box, have a r510 up and running with all 14 drives with an H200 as well. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm missing. Any ideas?

UPDATE: Finally figured it out, Dell is stupid. I plugged the cables in per the printed labels, when I flipped then around 6/8 bays are working. (I'm going to write off the other 2 as why this server was sold off) here's a picture of the cable plugged in working and a spare cable showing labels... r710 backwards connectors
