Claro and Routers

So, I live in Colombia and I am stuck with Claro for my ISP (For those who don't know, Claro is basically the Latin American equivalent to Comcast or Time Warner Cable). My ISP provided router-modem combo is complete junk (all I can do is configure a MAC blacklist/whitelist, can't even view a list of connected IPs), so I want to replace it with my own separate router and modem, the former running OpenWrt. How difficult (particularly with regards to dealing with Claro) is doing this?
