Synology or a DIY NAS?

Post Body
I'm planning on getting a NAS. I want to use it for storage, media server, HomeBridge/smart home stuff, maybe a small minecraft server to play with friends. I'm also planning on having 5 HDDs max.
Also I'm new to all these NAS stuff but I got some tech knowledge. I'm perfectly comfortable with building a DIY NAS if that's the better option.
