I predominately use laptops for home and out and about, but for a long time now I've been wanting to make a little home server but for what is still unclear so maybe some of you good people could share an idea or two.
The tower is just a Intel i5 7400, 16gb ram, 500gb SSD, 2x 6tb HDD. The worst part is that its using wifi, I have no room where the fibre connection is so it has to sit two floors up, but it does max out the 300mpbs connection fine on a speedtest. I've installed EndeavourOS on it but I might pop Windows on depending on suggestions.
Some idea's:
- Photo storage and archive or a way to organise them?
- Media like movies, maybe to stream to different devices in the house?
- Maybe turn my house a bit more smart home like?
- Centralised audio for streaming?
I'm honestly not sure, so suggestions are most welcome.
