Change 120v interconnected smoke detectors to 12-24v "smarter" detectors

Post Body

So my house already has the smoke detectors hooked up to my alarm panel using a relay, but I'm looking to upgrade them.

Is it possible to convert my existing 120 interconnected smoke alarms to low voltage ones that can be wired to my DSC PC1616 security panel?

My thoughts are that if I find the circuit responsible for my smoke detectors, remove it from the circuit breaker and reroute it to my panel, I could wire each 2 wire detector as you normally would to the spots where the 120v wiring is (now 12-24vdc).

I'd throw an EOL on the last detector in line.

Does this make sense?

I'm looking to upgrade to smarter detectors with compensation to reduce false alarms.

Thanks friends.

P.s. one other advantage to this is that I can silence all the alarms from my keypad instead of searhing for the offending detector and tearing it's useless body out of the ceiling!
