So my home has a bunch of standard 3wire interconnected smoke detectors, ( http://m.homedepot.com/p/FireX-Hardwire-interconnectable-120-Volt-Smoke-Alarm-with-Battery-Backup-21006371/100573489)
I mean they are awesome and all, but since I've hooked them up to my alarm panel (via a relay that the previous owner had installed) I'm worried about a lot of false alarms. Mainly from bugs ....more specifically, shit fly's or gnats.
They seek out the green power LED in the detector and nest around it, sometimes in such huge swarms that it completely blocks the LED out.
As you can imagine they'll also begin filing into the photo sensor....causing false alarms....more specifically false alarms at 3am.
So, is there any way I can bug proof these things so I don't keep getting calls from my security system?
I wouldn't mind upgrading them to a model with a filter already in place but I would like to keep it 3 wire interconnected and 120v ac.
Let me know what you guys think.
