Hi there. I'd like to set up a smart audio system in my house. I have most of my music on my computer (mostly MP3s). I'd like to use it as a server (OR set up a separate server), and be able to play music in 4-5 different rooms in the house. Ideally I'd like to control it via my phone, but open to other options (I'm not big on voice activation).
A friend of mine suggested looking into Sonos. They seem fairly expensive at like $200/pop, given the technology seems like it would be pretty simple? I've never messed with Raspberry Pis, audio receivers, or anything like that, but I'm reasonably tech-savvy, so I'm open to learning.
What equipment/software would I need to accomplish this? Does it make sense to invest in smart speakers, or rather dumb speakers with smart audio controllers? Anything else I need to consider?
EDIT: One other thing - I don't have much smart equipment in my home yet, but generally speaking I'm an Android/Google/Windows user.
