Voice activated lights in a rental?

This is my first time trying to automate anything, and don’t even know where to start; especially as a renter.

In my bedroom, I want to set up lights (both in sockets if possible, or strip lights along the moulding/under bed) that can be voice activated to turn on/off or change to different colour settings.

So how can I make this possible without any actual hard instillations as I am a renter? I would assume I need to get an Alexa or something but I don’t know the benefits of one system over another.
