I am a little new to home automation, and I think I'm getting stuck.

I am planning on getting a Smartthings hub, and a number of Z-Wave that will be on the first and second floors with 1-2 motion detectors. I want to put two light bulbs in a bedroom.

My next phase will have two more bulbs outside (which I want to be RGB bulbs) and another motion detector, this one outside.

I was thinking of sticking with Z-Wave but there seems to be so many more Zigbee bulbs. I am concerned that the spacing between the bulbs will be an issue though.

So am I overthinking things? Am I better off starting with Zigbee bulbs in the small area that I need them in now?
