How do I automate my fan to turn on based on temp?

Tl;Dr I've tried several options to turn on my ceiling fan (shelly relay) based on room temp (esp with temp sensor)

SOLVED I had to disable and then enable the temperature sensor

I've tried creating an automation following a few other examples I found online. When I press "run action" the fan turns on, so I think I messed up with the temp sensor.

I can see the temp sensor in my dashboard and it appears to be working (compared it to another thermostat)

I tried copying the generic thermostat from the home assistant site and putting that in my config YAML, but that doesn't seem to work either.
