Hello! This will be my first time getting a light strip that does not come from a "popular" well known manufacturer. First light strip that does not come with a controller in the box. First COB light strip too. so prepare for a naive question or two.
I am looking at the PAUTIX RGBW 4000K COB LED Strip Light 6.56ft/2m,UL Listed 24V Color Changing Tape Lights with 896LEDs/m.
For my application I only need 5 feet of LEDs. They dont have to be terribly bright. Color accuracy issues I can live with so long as its 4000K is solid. Density and diffusion is super important however (want minimal shadow differentiation).
So this PAUTIX option was appealing to me at 896 LED/m and decent reviews. They also sell a 6.56m strip which is great because I won't be wasting too much LED strip by cutting off excess.
My confusion comes from shopping for a controller because ideally:
- Required: The controller should be able to connect to home assist
- Very wanted: The controller should be able to connect with Google Home
- Required: WIFI
- Nice to have: No Infrared remote (I can just put duct tape over the infrared sensor)
In their listing they say "Compatible with PAUTIX SP644E (search for B0CQM3G9DK), SP630E (search for B0BWN9623B) and 5-in-1 controller (search for B0BLYVJMP2)." For each of these controllers there is a long name and a short name. Out of these I can see someone wrote a HA plugin for the SP630E but the SP630E does not have Google Home. B0BLYVJMP2 does support google home but I cant tell if someone has written a HA controller for it nor if I can flash WLED/some HA friendly OS on the controller. Mostly because I dont know the short name for B0BLYVJMP2.
Then it dawned on me looking at the connector (I know how to solder but the 5 pin setup with 3 of them being so close together (closer than the 4-5 evenly spaced connectors I am used to ) makes me nervous. I think its possible that their COB LED is compatible with controllers not made by PAUTIX?
Do all COB RGBW's use same protocol and therefore I can use whichever controller supports COB LEDW and has that style of connector with 3 and 2?
Side note. Is it the case on these that the RGBs are the ones that are 896 LED/m and the white single color is the COB?
