Holo universe question

Wouldn’t holographic universe imply that the ‘real’ universe that we are ‘being projected on’ is too a projection; as the ‘holo universe’ is imitating ‘ourselves’, beyond the edge of the hologram, thinking of & finding evidence of a holographic universe, therefore it being a cycle of another projection? Or are we projecting mostly, but solely becoming aware of it?
I’m unsure if that’s how it works so any thoughts would be appreciated
