Should Spiritual Learning be implemented in Standard Education?

As the public sector moves to include Social and Emotional learning objectives in schools they are accepting the responsibility to address extra-academic needs. On a continuum, emotional and communal learning would bleed into the spiritual domain. Is public education really equipped to take this on? How might parents and freelance instructors help establish this expectation and the norms around it?
