After getting my feet wet with HOI4 and understanding combat and the outs and ins of the UI, I started my first full game as England in the Black Ice mod. However, I started noticing some weird things happening the more I played. I'm also playing with the Player Lead Peace Conferences mod installed.
A lot of events are broken, like the lend-lease events (not the vanilla lend-lease system, but the "you receive 10 lend-lease escort carriers" events and such), which persist well after the war is over. Not only that, but since Liberal and Conservative countries in the game can't puppet (which is B.S. as liberal and conservative countries, historically, did puppet smaller nations), when WW2 is over, the world was behaving weirdly. The newly reorganized German Republic immediately declared war on the USSR, with 30 divisions. Reorganized Italy declared war on Greece with 30 divisions. Reorganized Romania declared war on the USSR with ZERO divisions of troops.
Meanwhile, Vichy France still existed, as I'm "not allowed to declare war on a country which has not generated world tension". For some reason, it gave me a couple dozen points of world tension for ending the war (and the USSR 100 points for ending the German-Polish war which it technically wasn't even a part of). Thus, my allies began to hate me for generating world tension, meanwhile, Vichy France didn't generate any at all for simply existing and holding French territories. To make matters worse, France didn't even care! It didn't consider Vichy France as holding its core provinces!
Aside from that, I started getting really weird notifications, especially during elections, which gave me no text prompt (just some placeholder text like "BIce_Desc_1"), and only one option for the button, which again had a placeholder text but suddenly changed my population's views wildly. In two elections, socialism spiked in popularity by 20% and conservatism declined by 20%.
The mod is really fun for combat, research, and unit design, forcing me to pay close attention to where my resources are going and such, but outside of that, the mid-game politics and such are getting toxic.
