Post Body

Hello everyone! So I am currently in the market for my first ever reptile and I chose a western hognose, for obvious reasons. I did tons and tons of research, got the tank set up with a heat pad covering 1/3 of the tank and a thermostat to maintain temp, proper substrate and enrichment, a hide on both the warmer and cooler sides of the tank, and I even have some day old frozen pinkies ready for my first little wiggly son. I found a very VERY highly reviewed local exotic pet store and after a few visits they finally had some baby hogs available. I picked out their only albino boy and put down a deposit. I did not take him home that day because he had just come into the shop about a week earlier and had not eaten yet. I figured I would wait for him to eat and then take him home. However, it has been about a week and a half and he still has not eaten at the shop. Some points of interest I noticed when there were that he was housed with all of his siblings (about 6 more baby hogs) on sand substrate, and with a heat lamp as opposed to a pad, and only one hide in the enclosure. From the research i have done this does not sound like a stress free enviornment to get my boy his first meal in. So I am posting here for advice on whether or not i should take him home and try to get him to take his first meal on my own, or wait until the dealine for my deposit runs out and hope that the shop has gotten him to eat by then. Any advice is very welcome and thank you for your time!
