Yesterday i was bored so i decided to try AGM-65 against Air targets. I knew it could work against hovering helicopters if you can get a lock. This time i have tried against group of Russian bombers at 30.000 feet in a clear weather. AGM-65D, i can reliably lock on bombers going straight from 7Nm away. They are bright as sun on targeting pod. However as soon as missile is off the rails it refuses to track the bomber and slowly plummets into the ground. What's holding them to just try to intercept the bomber even though it is impossible to hit the target?
Did you know rhat at one point they considered making a carrier-capable version of the A-10?
They decided against it once they realized it couldn't keep up with a carrier even when going downwind.
The fact that a typical DCS gamer loads 5x CBU-105, 2x triple Mavericks, 2x dual AIM-9, targetting pod, full fuel tank and Mk-82s on remaining pylons probably doesn't help :P

Does a Maverick even have any logic to enable it to pull sufficient lead? Doesn't it always just chase the target directly?
