New gear. Thigh rise too high??

Upgraded to a new True 7X3 set. My first skate was TERRIBLE!! Just fighting them the whole time.
I’m 6’ and went from Sher-Wood 9990s at 34 1 to True 7x3s at 34 2.
The thigh rise and super stiffness is definitely messing with me.
I’m thinking maybe my basic stance just needs to be wider? I grew up playing in the 90s so I’ve always played with my knees close together when upright.
